En el presente trabajo se realiza una comparación de los recursos disponibles y de los servicios ofrecidos en las bibliotecas dependientes de la Universidad de Valencia (UV), de la Universidad Politécnica de Valencia (UPV) y del Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC), y localizadas geográficamente en la ciudad de Valencia. Libraries are non-profit service-oriented organizations engaged in satisfying the patrons' needs by providing them with whatever they seek from the library, i.e., Books, Journals, Magazines, CDs/DVDs, and Online Resources. However, the libraries must face hardships regarding funds which create difficulties in maintaining the libraries and providing better library services. Powszechny dostęp do technologii cyfrowych, informatycznych i telekomunikacyjnych powoduje nieodwracalne zmiany w organizacji dostępu do zasobów bibliotecznych. Efektywne zarządzanie tymi zasobami wymaga prowadzenia systematycznych badań wykorzystania poszczególnych rodzajów zasobów, zauważania zmian i tendencji użytkowników oraz uwzględniania ich potrzeb w globalnej polityce uzupełniania zasobów bibliotecznych.
